our origins
The Steel Target Company Ltd. was founded over six years ago by Hugh, who started the business while still studying for his engineering degree at university. Initially, operations were small-scale, with stock stored in a garden shed and sales made through social media platforms. Despite these humble beginnings, the company quickly gained traction in the shooting community. The rapid growth led to the need for larger premises, and today, the company operates from its second industrial unit, having outgrown the first due to increasing demand.
At its core, The Steel Target Company Ltd. is fueled by a passion for shooting sports. Hugh, along with the individuals who helped the company grow, share a deep connection to the sport, with many having experience in deer stalking and deer management. Some of these key contributors also come from the UK military and police force, bringing a wealth of knowledge, skills, and discipline that have greatly influenced the company’s development. This unique blend of expertise ensures that The Steel Target Company Ltd. produces products that meet the rigorous standards of both professional and recreational shooters alike.

Hugh is the founder and architect of of The Steel Target Company, managing all and performing most operations undertaken at our Cheshire HQ. What began over 6 years ago as a few targets on racking in his garden shed, while working as a design engineer and completing a degree in engineering, is now the UK market leading company it is today.
Years of experience as a design and fabrication engineer, and a strong love for rifle shooting and deer stalking is what forged the foundations of the business, and still today, Hugh spends a lot of his spare time deer stalking across the UK, for both recreational and deer management purposes.

FROM THE GARDEN SHED TO AN INDUSTRIAL UNIT
The Steel Target Co. started with humble roots, storing stock on racking in Hugh's garden shed, selling most items through social media while still studying at university. Fast forward to today, with a firm establishment in the UK's shooting industry, we are now operating out of our second industrial unit. Still the same lean workforce, we have enjoyed the rollercoaster ride to get us here and learnt a tonne of valuable lessons along the way.
